JibJab declares war on crappy e-cards!

I was really excited today to see JibJab's latest launch, called Sendables -- they were dreamed up by JibJab's brothers and co-founders Gregg and Evan Spiridellis last year and the quality they've brought to market is really unbelievably good.

Sendables are funny videos and images built for sharing, with topics ranging from birthdays and holidays to flirts and disses... yes, they sound a bit like e-card (but, JibJab implores you... DONT CALL THEM E-CARDS :-)

Free (eCards) to $3 (sendables) is a big leap. I'd be interested in seeing the research that suggested the market is ready to leap.

I agree that the pricing may be a little off -- but the market for eCards is shockingly large... American Greetings is doing north of $40mm annually in online greetings subscriptions (may be as high as $80mm annually), and the quality's quite horrendous (still stuck in Blue Mountains Greetings midi files and stock photo-land).

Personally, I'd like to see the effective cost drop to ~$1... but, I trust that they'll figure that out...
