worked very late on tuesday -- was a long, but inspiring day for me -- it felt great to put in a long, focused day with my new team in Associates. was a great feeling to have a whole team of folks driving toward our goal of 12noon launch.
we launched the new q4 pricing announcement on wednesday... the message boards trashed us a bit in the beginning, but then we saw folks beginning to take to the change with the observation that we really are going to pay them significantly more. time will tell over the next 100 days, eh?
you can read the message boards here
i'm not sure if that link will work... you may need to be a member...
ah well... one more thing, i really enjoyed the book where wizards stay up late -- like i said, it tells about the creation of the ARPANET (forerunner of the Internet) -- interesting for everyone, I believe

ah yes -- the book that i'm reading about the creation of the internet is Where Wizards Stay Up Late: The Origins...
another book that i just finished was The Victorian Internet: The Remarkable... -- I highly recommend this book as well -- it tells the story of the introduction of the telegraph in the mid 19th century, and relates the extraordinary similarities to the evolution of the Internet (tons of hype, necessity for communication protocols, harbingers of world peace, etc. etc.) -- is a quick read and very interesting

turned 34 yesterday -- usually i don't mind these milemarkers, but with my newly crowned tooth still aching, it just adds insult to injury and makes me feel a bit crickety...
friday night birthday party at the house was nice -- being surrounded by friends is always a good thing -- and got the good news that another friend is pregnant (no, i can't tell you which one!) -- axl defiled the carpet in our bedroom -- dogs that do that should be forced to do the cleaning, but since i didn't have to clean it up, i didn't push my point too hard :)
went thru the locks on saturday with steve mckenney, linda, laura porco, karen, and zach, and then just floated beside UW stadium... awesome day... then left the boat at blackburn's dock -- assumed that penn state would get whooped by nebraska today, but they ended up winning 40-7 -- wonders never cease!
spent sunday reading and studying... excited about the new associates position/the whole opportunity... read about the founding of the Internet/ARPAnet most of the day today... very interesting learning about how it all started, why it was developed, how many people contributed different, radical ideas to its creation, and how new of a project it really is (launched in the late 60's...)
